South Coasting Stroll

The urbanization of Puerto Madero had a strong impact that extended to its neighbouring areas and enlarged the restricted horizon that used to close the access of Buenos Aires to the river. Within this framework, the Corporación Antiguo Puerto Madero S.A. developed the renewal of the area South Waterfront.
In May 1995 was carried out the National Contest of Projects for the "New Green Areas of Puerto Madero, the Revitalization and New Value of South Waterfront", organized by the Central Society of Architects, sponsored by the City Hall of Buenos Aires City, with the Corporación Antiguo Puerto Madero S.A.
Upon defining the intervention that should be performed on the zone, there was only left to implement its development. In this way, in June 1999, the Corporación signed an agreement with the Government of the City of Buenos Aires by which the Corporación committed to carry out the works of recovery and maintenance of the area for five years.

The coastal boardwalk that was formed by the boardwalk and the stairs to access the beach were rebuilt according to their original style. The reconstruction extends from E. The works included the restoration of the existing benches and lamps (more than 500).

This important sculpture from the artist Dolores Mora de la Vega, "Lola Mora", was completely restored.
This work was proposed in year 1900 to the Major Adolfo Bullrich to be placed in Buenos Aires City. Its creator made it in Italy and from there moved it to Buenos Aires, arriving in September 1902. It was meant to be situated in the Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Cathedral. However, its figures provoked a debate in the society of those days, what derived in its original location at the Paseo de Julio, between Cangallo and Piedad (now Leandro N. Alem, between Perón and Sarmiento), on May 21, 1903. The final moving to its current situation in South Waterfront took place in 1918.

The works for its remodelling were based on that model, erecting a wood stage sustained by a steel structure. It has discontinuous stairs in semicircle, for the people. Around the area, bushes and big sized-trees were planted as to protect it.
