Antecedents of remodeling of Buenos Aires City
Impacts on Puerto Madero
Introduction

From the middle of the the decade
of the 20's, several plans to integrate the area of Puerto Madero
to the rest of the city came one after another. Its location, limiting
with the central area and its extension, made of this area the right
place to the expansion of commercial, business and administrative
activities. On the other hand, its situation as a link with the
coast line conferred it an important role in the recovery of leisure
areas, that were becoming more necessary as time went by.
In the beginning, the projects focused on the
leisure issue, whilst in the last years, it shifted to the construction
issue. The Master Plan for the area had the merit to compensate
the commercial, administrative and leisure uses, including also
residential uses, which gave this area its characteristical urban
unity.
