Impacts on Puerto Madero

1981 / 1982 : Enlargement of the Central Area

In 1981 it was commended to a consortium of architects, integrated by Mario Roberto Alvarez & Asoc., Raña Veloso & Asoc. and Serra Valera Arqs., to carry out a study of the territory integrated by Puerto Madero and a refilled zone, which would be devoted to expansion of the Central Area. The program that came up after these studies identified and propose in a more specific manner that in previous opportunities, structuring typologies of a global project.
The moving of public and private organisms that operated in the area was proposed, leaving the area for its urbanization.
It consisted of two parts, one referred to the uses of surface and the other to construction and population projections:

· An area of 800 hectares, integrated by Puerto Madero, the refilled area and another suplementary.
· Increasing the land area to locate superior third activities and the creation of a Metropolitan Park for public use, with recreational and cultural character, equipped with a Metropolitan Museum and an auditorium for the City.
· A total of 5.000.000 sq mt would be home for 135.000 jobs, and 50.000 residents (27% of the third sector) and 6.500 public underground parking places.
