This ship was built specialy for Argentina in the
UK, being set off on August 31st, 1897. It served as School Boat
between 1899 and 1939, with instruction trips around the world.
In 1939 it stopped doing international trips and
remained at the Instruction División of the Navy Military
School, servicing short instruction trips for the cadets.
In December 1961 it became Museum Boat of the Argentinean
Navy, and the following year it was declared National Historical
Monument.
It still keeps its original furniture and valuable
photo testimonies of its history as international ambassador of
Argentina.

Uruguay Corvette
Dock 4 (Juana M. Gorriti)
This canyon ship was set off on February 1874 and
is one of the oldest Argentinean war ships still sailing. It performed
several hydrographical campaigns and served as scholl boat of the
Argentinean Navy.
The Corbeta Uruguay has entered Argentinean and world
history, for having rescued in 1903 the cast aways of the Swedish
scientifical expedition, commanded by Otto Nordenskjöld. The
mission was directed by Lieutenant Julián Irízar.
Made in Great Britain in the Laird Brothers Shipyards, it still
keeps most of the original furniture. In 1967 it was declared National
Historical Monument.

The Universidad Católica Argentina (Argentinean
Catholic University) has inaugurated this Pavillion, which has more
than 400 sq mt devoted to display the work of Argentinean artists.

In this building, old site of Munich Brewery, the
Center of Museums of Buenos Aires is working. In their pavillions
several art or historical exhibitions are held. It has a conference
room and micro cinema, where presentations are made on a regular
basis.
